I’ve used papercrete, which is pulped cardboard mixed with cement to make a cheap, lightweight alternative to brick or concrete. I have given in to practical considerations, breaking my own arbitrary rules, but I quite like how it’s like a theatre prop, with the faux-brick cladding and the steel hinge.
